RecipesChanges

We have a date for opening to work towards now and its full steam ahead at Market Cross.

Having been closed now for nearly 5 months in the latest lockdown you might think there’s not much to do. Normally there wouldn’t be but you know us, we don’t like to rest on our laurels and just keep things same. We like to look at what we can improve, what we can do to make our guests experience even more enjoyable. That’s what we’ve been doing.

In the Garden

If there’s one thing this period of closure has given us it’s time in the garden. For our guests this coming summer we are making some major changes to the planting and layout. We are putting in more fruit trees so that there will be more homegrown fruit for breakfasts and new jams. The old and tired shrubs are coming out to make way for new colourful plants which will flower at different times of the year. Evergreens of different shades so that even during the winter period the garden will still be pretty and inviting. We are also redesigning the seating area at the bottom of the garden. This will be paved, with a handmade pergola, new seating and tastefully planted around. We hope you will love it when sitting with a glass of wine in the evening sun.

In the Kitchen

We have always been very proud of our food. The fact that we source as much locally as we can, make as much as we can ourselves and of course grow our own fruit and other things. This extends further than our breakfasts of course. Our evening meals are available to all our guests and even include a menu for in room dining. This is what Amanda has been working on over that last few months. Recipe testing is a long process that takes time, effort and unfortunately a lot of eating. Our new menus will be available to order from 1st April. If you intend to eat with us during your stay, then please look at the Dining page on our website.

We have also made a number of cosmetic changes to improve décor and comfort in some of the rooms. There is one other change which will make dining a more relaxed experience, but we can’t show you that yet. Suffice to say it will make some things far more flexible and, we hope will instil even more confidence in our guests staying with us.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Market Cross.
